Health Outcomes / Health Economics
Evidence derived from registries, observational studies, and trials designed to evaluate value and cost-effectiveness has become increasingly important in today’s competitive environment. Whether a manufacturer is trying to obtain formulary approval, secure a more favorable reimbursement level in a tiered-pharmacy, or qualify for a national formulary, there is no substitute for evidence based on current real-world practices and outcomes from providers and patients similar to those who will use your product.
Outcome’s experience includes direct collection of patient-reported outcomes from patients themselves as well as through their practitioners. Each approach is tailored to the individual needs of the study.
Outcome’s studies can be used to obtain the necessary data to provide sophisticated, informative reports to payers and governments. This in turn allows payers and government to compare your product costs and outcomes to competitors to better understand the value of newly approved drugs and devices.
Studies of health outcomes and economics are also useful training grounds for improving how products are used. Embedded guidelines and training programs can show product value in its best light, both in physicians who are experienced with using the drug or device, as well as in physicians who are new to the product or device.
Similarly, Outcome has conducted numerous observational programs to validate instruments and questionnaires used to evaluate patient outcomes in specific disease areas. These instrument validation studies, typically requested by outcomes research and epidemiology groups in sponsor companies, benefit from the Outcome system’s ease of use and ability to seamlessly blend with the current workflow of participating sites.
