Physician Quality and Reporting System (formerly PQRI)

What is PQRS?

Created in March 2007, the PQRI established a financial incentive for eligible healthcare professionals to participate in a voluntary quality reporting program. By reporting on a minimum of 3 individual measures on a specified group of patients, a physician can earn a bonus payment of 0.5% on all of their Medicare billing for 2013 and avoid a 1.5% payment adjustment (i.e. penalty) which would be applied in 2015.

In 2011, CMS renamed the program the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS).

For 2013, we offer 139 quality measures and 22 measures groups in the PQRS, which can be reported to CMS by physicians and other caregivers in hospitals or physician practices.

The Outcome™ PQRS registry is a CMS qualified registry, offering an easy-to-use, comprehensive tool, to manage your data. The Registry Reporting Method requires providers to select a registry which has been approved by CMS as a qualified registry for data collection and once or twice per year data submission. This method is expected to become the preferred method for many providers since they can review the data and add key clinical information regarding the patient at anytime. Additionally, providers DO NOT need to select CPTII codes for registry reporting since the registry performs the measure calculations and performance data is submitted separately from the billing process.

Outcome PQRS Registry features:

  • Leverage data from existing practice management systems or EHRs
  • Reduce data entry with an upload tool
  • Simplify reporting process by separating submission from claims processes
  • View reporting status before Outcome submits to CMS
  • Create a registry view of data for quality improvement
  • Choose from all 139 measures and 22 measures groups, available through registry reporting
  • Select the e-prescribing measure for an opportunity to earn an additional 0.5% incentive payment

Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Incentive Payment
The Outcome registry offers practices the opportunity to participate  in the CMS eRx Incentive Program and qualify for the 0.5% eRx incentive payment, while avoiding the 1.5% eRx payment adjustment penalty, through the same program. The Outcome registry includes the option to collect the appropriate eRx measure and Outcome will transmit the data to CMS.

We offer different levels of participation, depending on your organization.
